Urgency of Islamic Education
Education is important to human beings. It is said to be important because education is related to the value of the human self, especially in seeking the value itself. With human education will have many skills and personality. Skills and personality are so many of the processes that human beings experience to be creatures of good physical and mental qualities. Personal qualities and morals begin not to come by itself, but there is a kind of exercises / riyadhah. Good habits will be good and become a part of everyday personality, otherwise personality and bad daily habit will also adversely affect the personality and deeds themselves. So education in everyday human beings become important in order to escort human beings who are virtuous and civilized noble.
Religious education is a basic education that should be given to children from an early age when young. It is remembering that the child's private at the age of childhood is still young to be formed and the students are still under the influence of the household environment. Given the strategic meaning of the family institution, the religious education which constitutes basic education must start from the household by the parents.
In the process of achieving and improving the welfare of life, every person / individual is instructed to study continuously throughout his life and it is a logical consequence of the establishment of human beings as khalifah on this earth.
Education is part of the task of human caliphate. Therefore, educational activities should be carried out consistently and responsibly. In this regard, Islam provides the view that the fundamental concepts of education and the responsibility of Muslims to describe and apply them to the practice of education.
Islamic education is an absolute necessity to be implemented consistently with full sense of responsibility, to achieve the welfare of life as a form of worship and devotion to Allah SWT. The first verse revealed by Allah SWT is related to the urgency of education, ie iqra ', the command of reading. The result of learning effort to read the verses qur'aniyah, can produce the science of religion such as fiqh, monotheism, akhlak and so forth. While the results with the effort to read verses kawniyah, can produce science such as physics, biology, chemistry, astronomy and the like. The point of science that comes from the verses qur'aniyah and kawniyah, must be obtained through the process of learning to read. More specifically, it can be said that in the view of Islam, education is a holy process to realize the basic purpose of life, which is worshiping Allah SWT with all its broad meaning. Thus, education is the highest form of worship in Islam with nature as its field, man as its center, and living faith as its purpose.
Allah SWT gives hearing, sight and heart to man, to be used to contemplate, think and pay attention to what is around him. All of this, is a motivation for all mankind to seek knowledge through education, and at the same time is a duty for every Muslim, from childhood to old age.
Islamic education in addition as a duty, is absolutely required by every Muslim child for the sake of his existence. Especially when entering a challenging era of globalization. Islamic education that emphasizes the aspect of spiritual intelligence has a format of maintenance, utilization and development of humanitarian nature in anticipating the spiritual crisis in the era of globalization.
Islamic education has an important role in improving Human Resources (HR). Ideally Islamic education serves to prepare high-quality human resources both in the mastery of science and technology as well as in terms of character, moral attitudes serata pengataatan and religious teachings, this is in accordance with the characteristics of religious education. Integral Islamic education does not recognize the separation between science and religion. In essence Islamic education serves to foster and prepare students who knowledgeable, tech, high-skilled, as well as believe and do good deeds.
Looking at the concept of education, it can be understood that the progress that will be achieved by Islamic education is not measured by the mastery or supremacy of worldly interests alone, but also to see where the earthly life provides assets for the next life.
