The purpose of Islamic Education
Islamic education is a conscious and purposive education. Allah SWT compiles a clear educational foundation for all human beings through the Shari'ah of Islam.
The purpose of Islamic education is to realize the servant of Allah SWT in human life, both individually and socially. This purpose is in accordance with the word of Allah in the letter az-Zariyat Verse 56, namely:
It means: "And I did not create jinn and men but that they might serve Me." (Q.S. Az-Zariyat: 56)
Based on the description of the above verse, it can be understood that the purpose of the creation of jinn and human beings is nothing but to be devoted to Allah SWT in the sense can be a servant who can always carry out the orders set by Allah SWT. The benefits of the business will certainly return to yourself also that is for the achievement of happiness in this life.
Islamic education also aims to guide the development of learners optimally in order to become servants devoted to Allah SWT. As the word of Allah in the letter az-Zariyat verse 51 which reads:
Meaning: And make no other god beside Allah. Verily I am a clear warner from God for you. (Surah Az-Zariyat: 51)
The above verse explains that forbidding to make / cause God other than Allah, from God man comes to Him also man will return. Living with the Grace that is given by Him can never turn away from Him. on his side is the best place to return.
Rasulullah SAW is a giver of warning and guidance to the direction that is blessed by Allah SWT. Rasulullah SAW educates and directs his ummah. From then on it started Islamic education activities. So the activity of Islamic education is directed to the effort to guide people to be able to place themselves and act as a devout individual in running the teachings of God in this life.
In addition, Islamic education also aims to form human as a moral person, so that education is focused on the effort to recognize the values of good, then in interaksikannya and the application of value in everyday life. On this basis, man is a creature who in all forms of activity is a creature bound to moral values, whose source is divine revelation. Awareness of the moral values that must be obeyed and determined in life is because he is a personal figure menyadanguhi these values.
Furthermore, Islamic education is also directed to the efforts of guidance and development of potential learners in order to play a harmonious and harmonious role in the life of society. In the Qur'an letter of al-Hujarat verse 13 which reads:
Meaning: O mankind, We created you from a man and a woman and made you nation and tribe so that you may know one another. Verily the most honorable among you by Allah is the most pious among you. Allah is the Knower, the Knower. (Surah Al Hujarat: 13)
According to Azyumardi Azra, explaining that Islamic education is one aspect of Islamic teachings as a whole. Hence, the goal of Islamic education is not to be missed from the purpose of human life in Islam; namely for the realization of individuals as servants of Allah who always piety to Him, and can achieve a happy life both in the world and in the hereafter. In the social context of society, nation and state, this pious person becomes rahmatan lilalamin. The purpose of human life in Islam is what can be called as the ultimate goal of Islamic education.
From the above explanation, it is obvious that individual education in Islam has a clear and specific purpose, namely: preparing individuals to be able to worship Allah SWT. And that the totality of Islam does not limit the notion of worship on prayer, fasting (shaum) and hajj alone, but every work done by a Muslim with the intention for Allah is merely a service to Allah SWT.
